Renewable energy growth becomes lucrative for farmers

A great feature in Green Review shedding light on how Rok Solid is transforming the renewable energy landscape in Australia by helping landowners leverage their land for solar, wind, and energy storage projects and providing landowners with a new source of income. Founder Daniel Moroko explains that as demand for renewable energy grows, so does the opportunity for farmers to earn passive income by leasing their land. Some earn upwards of $100,000 per year, with larger parcels bringing in even more.

Rok Solid guides landowners through the process, from structuring land leases to ensuring fair compensation. Despite initial skepticism, many landowners are embracing this opportunity once they see the benefits and understand the process.

Growth in renewable energy projects could prove lucrative for land owners

Pleased to have been featured in Farm Online discussing how renewable energy projects are creating new opportunities for Australian landowners! Riverland resident Cathy Kruger, unable to farm her 7ha due to high water prices, found a lucrative alternative by leasing her land for a solar farm. She now earns over $10,000 annually through a 40-year lease with a major energy company.

This is just one example of how Rok Solid is facilitating change. We've brokered over 30 land deals across multiple states, securing 4 gigawatts of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and 800 megawatts of solar projects. Some landowners earn significant passive income, with larger projects generating over a million dollars a year.

Our goal at Rok Solid is to guide landowners through the complexities of renewable energy projects, from land acquisition to development approvals. It's about creating value for everyone involved while contributing to Australia's ambitious sustainability targets. Let's keep driving towards a greener future.

Land agency says renewables target driving ‘huge’ demand

Read more in this PV Magazine article about Australia's renewable energy sector is booming, driving a surge in demand for land as the country aims to double its renewable energy capacity in the next six years. There is a lucrative opportunity for landowners to earn passive income by hosting solar, wind, and energy storage developments. With the government targeting 82% renewables by the end of the decade, Moroko emphasises the significant income potential, with lease payments exceeding traditional farming earnings. Landowners like Richard Munsie attest to the financial benefits and are embracing renewables.

Moroko stresses the need for genuine and transparent communication with landowners to ensure community support and respect for property rights at every stage.

Best battery storage sites going quickly, and some lucky landowners are cashing in

Discover the latest insights into the Australian renewable energy land acquisition landscape with Daniel Moroko, CEO of Rok Solid. As large-scale battery storage projects continue to proliferate, Moroko highlights the growing scarcity of prime sites, particularly in NSW and Victoria. Despite rising demand, landowners aren't seeing a proportional increase in prices due to infrastructure constraints and neighbouring projects reducing capacity.

Looking ahead, Moroko discusses the potential for green hydrogen sites and the lucrative opportunities solar projects offer landowners, providing valuable perspectives for stakeholders in the renewable energy sector.

Huge growth in renewable energy projects proving lucrative for farmers

Rok Solid is empowering farmers across Australia to earn substantial passive income by leasing their land for renewable energy projects. With a focus on facilitating partnerships between landholders and companies striving for net zero, Rok Solid has secured an impressive 4 Gigawatts of storage projects and 800 Megawatts of solar projects across multiple states.

Founder Daniel Moroko highlights the growing demand for battery energy storage sites, driven by the need to reduce strain on the grid and prevent blackouts. Through strategic negotiations and expert guidance, Rok Solid is pioneering a new era of sustainable land use, positioning Australia as a leader in renewable energy adoption.

Renewables and farmers

Rok Solid has secured 4 gigawatts of energy storage projects and 800 megawatts of solar projects across multiple Australian states. Partnering farmers can earn up to $100,000 annually in passive income due to rising demand for land for renewable projects. Major companies like Atlas Renewables and RWE have benefitted from their services.

The Clean Energy Australia 2024 Report shows renewables now make up 40% of the nation's energy supply. Baker McKenzie will advise Metis Energy on the 111 MW Gunsynd Solar Farm, set to power 32,000 Queensland households.

Renewable land grab leaves prime paddocks in production

Daniel Moroko is revolutionising the renewable energy landscape. Through his pioneering work as a property negotiator, Moroko has facilitated agreements for 4 gigawatts of big batteries and 800 megawatts of solar farms, totalling $61 million.

Moroko's work underscores the significant economic opportunities and community benefits associated with renewable energy projects on farmland. Farmers, grappling with droughts and economic uncertainties, view renewable energy leases as a vital source of income, fostering financial stability while supporting sustainable land management practices.

As the momentum for renewable energy continues to grow, the collaboration between landowners and renewable energy developers, spearheaded by Moroko, will play a pivotal role in Australia's transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

Gould Creek, South Australia - Battery Energy Storage Project

Daniel Moroko from Rok Solid negotiated the land deal for the Gould Creek Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. This project, which has a 225MW output and 450 MWh capacity, received development approval from the state’s Minister for Planning and Local Government in October 2021.

NSW developer Maoneng Group has partnered with Gaw Capital Partners, a real estate equity investment group based in Hong Kong, to establish Gaw Maoneng Renewables (GMR), marking their entry into the renewable energy sector. GMR will expedite the development of some of Australia's largest battery storage projects, including the Gould Creek Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in South Australia.

Mornington Peninsula, VIC - Battery Energy Storage Project

The Mornington BESS is a $330 million standalone 240MW/480 MWh facility to be built in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, a region popular with tourists and therefore experiencing significant fluctuations in electricity demand throughout the year. As a result of Daniel Moroko from Rok Solid securing the land for this project, GMR could proceed with securing development and connection approvals to commence the project.

In partnership with AusNet, GMR Energy has initiated early works, including the procurement of long-lead items for the project. AusNet will build the transmission infrastructure required for the Mornington project, which is adjacent to AusNet's Tyabb substation. Despite facing supply chain disruptions, GMR Energy is in final negotiations with an engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the project.

Once completed by the end of 2024, the Mornington BESS aims to power an equivalent of 40,000 homes and contribute to Victoria's renewable energy goals. GMR Energy, backed by Gaw Capital Partners, is committed to completing its portfolio of six battery projects, totalling 1.3 GW, to support Australia's transition to renewables.

Tamworth NSW - Battery Energy Storage Project

Daniel Moroko negotiated the land deal for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Tamworth, New South Wales. His contribution underscores the collaborative efforts among stakeholders to advance renewable energy initiatives and bolster grid infrastructure in the region, with this project alone aiming to power up to 35,000 homes.

The Tamworth site was chosen following a thorough evaluation of electricity supply and demand throughout NSW, incorporating an analysis of the Australian Energy Market Operator's Integrated System Plan and anticipated future demand. The company intends to use the site for grid stabilisation and storage purposes.

The NSW government's plan to replace coal with renewable energy sources is driving competition among developers for grid space, with multiple battery projects competing for space near connection points, aiming to minimise their connection points and capitalise on grid advantages.

Armidale / Lismore Battery - Battery Energy Storage Project

Daniel Moroko negotiated the land deals for these Battery Energy Storage Projects unveiled by Maoneng (now Valent), a renewables and battery storage developer.

These projects include a 150 MW/300 MWh battery near Armidale and a 100MW/200 MWh battery near Lismore, targeting key zones for renewable development. These initiatives will enhance reliability and security to the network during peak periods.
